Company: Yeap Inc. / YeapTel Location: Anchorage / Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER), Alaska Employment Type: Contract / Part-Time / On-Call, with potential long-term employment Schedule: On-call availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays for emergency incidents Start: Subject to federal contract award Position Summary Yeap Inc. is seeking an experienced Telecommunications / VoIP Field Technician in the Anchorage, Alaska area to support a federal telecommunications services contract at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. The technician will serve as YeapTel's local field-support resource for enterprise voice and telecommunications infrastructure. The position requires the ability to respond rapidly to service outages and work with YeapTel's remote Network Operations and engineering teams to troubleshoot and restore telecommunications services. This role may begin as an independent contractor/on-call position and may become a longer-term employment opportunity.

Responsibilities

Provide local field support for enterprise SIP/VoIP telecommunications services Respond to high-priority service outages at JBER Be capable of arriving on-site within one hour of notification Troubleshoot SIP trunks, telecommunications circuits, network connectivity, CPE, gateways, and related equipment Support installation and maintenance of carrier/network edge equipment Troubleshoot copper and fiber connectivity when applicable Assist with physical circuit testing and carrier demarcation troubleshooting Work with YeapTel remote engineers and NOC personnel during outages Support enterprise SIP connectivity to Government Session Border Controllers Assist with QoS, connectivity, routing, and call-quality troubleshooting Support local and long-distance telephone service Participate in installation, testing, migration, and cutover activities Document outage cause, affected systems, restoration actions, and resolution Provide status updates during critical outages Maintain professional communication with Government technical personnel

Requirements

Candidates should have experience in several of the following areas: VoIP / SIP telecommunications SIP trunks Enterprise telephone systems Telecom carrier circuits Session Border Controllers Network routers, switches, gateways, or CPE Fiber and copper telecommunications infrastructure Circuit testing and troubleshooting LAN/WAN networking QoS for voice traffic Telecom installation and maintenance Emergency outage restoration Strongly Preferred Current or recent access to JBER Active military-base access credentials Previous work at JBER or another Department of Defense installation Experience supporting Air Force or other federal telecommunications systems Experience with enterprise SIP environments Experience working with telecom carriers/CLECs Ability to work independently during emergency incidents Based within approximately 30–45 minutes of JBER Critical Availability Requirement This position supports mission-critical telecommunications operations. For high-priority outages, the technician must be able to arrive at JBER and begin work within one hour of notification. Because gate processing is included in that response window, candidates who already have active JBER/base access are strongly preferred.
